What is Equine Assisted Coaching?

Equine Assisted Therapeutic Coaching involves a professional coach working with horses as a means to help individuals of all ages promote emotional growth, learning, and self-enrichment. Therapeutic coaching supports you to identify the root cause of your challenges, take positive steps forward and learn coping techniques along the way. Spending time with the horses outdoors in a natural environment creates a safe, non-judgemental space for exploration.

Horses are large, powerful, prey animals; they are instinctively able to tune into their environment and energy around them and will respond accordingly to our feelings and body language. They are unbiased and non-judgemental and will reflect your intent, energy, and behaviour. For those who find it hard to trust others, they can often achieve a strong bond with the horse; providing closeness, affection, acceptance and respect.

I am trained in the HEART model, holding harmony, empathy, accountability, respect and trust at the centre of our work. As a therapeutic coaching model, we work alongside the horses to identify our emotional states and our limiting beliefs through our energy and the way the horses respond to us. In understanding what is blocking us from reaching our potential, or feeling safe and stable, we are able to identify ways to move forward. The work is experiential, powerful and can be used to support people in a multitude of ways, including establishing healthy relationships, boundaries, improving confidence and self-esteem and building on communication.

Our aim is to encourage new ways of thinking and being, which can be implemented in your life and change negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours to create positive, long lasting change. Evidence suggests that this type of work decreases anger, depression and disassociation and creates increased emotional wellbeing, safety and stability.
